Frequently Asked Questions
What forms of payments do you accept?
Currently, I accept cash payments via Venmo or Zelle. If you would like to use your Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Healthcare Savings Accounts (HSA), you would need to prepay and submit a superbill for reimbursement. I do offer a prepayment discount bundle.
Do you take Insurance?
I am not contracted directly with any insurance networks nor an active Regional Center Vendor. You are responsible for all payments for services. Superbills are provided upon request which contain the necessary documentation and coding for you to request reimbursement from your insurance provider.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Coverage for services is dependent on your insurance carrier and individual plan. Given that I am not contracted directly with any insurance networks, you would need to ask about your out-of-network benefits. I always recommend you call your insurance company and ask what your benefits are before beginning services.
What are common insurance codes?
When contacting your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network coverage, having the appropriate insurance codes can be helpful. Your insurance provider will need two types of codes; a procedure (CPT) code to tell them what type of service was provided and a diagnosis (ICD-10) code to tell them what the diagnosis(es) are based on the DSM-V. These codes are determined by assessments typically completed by a psychologist or a speech-language pathologist.
Common CPT (procedure) codes: Speech & Language Evaluation (92523), Speech & Language Treatment – Individual (92507), Speech & Language Treatment – Group (92508), Executive Function Intervention (97129)
Common ICD-10 (diagnosis) codes: Autism (F84.0), ADHD Inattentive Type (F90.0), ADHD Hyperactive Type (F90.1), ADHD Combined Type (F90.2), Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder (F80.82), Expressive Language Disorder (F80.1), Mixed Receptive-Expressive Language Disorder (F80.2), Articulation/Phonological Disorder (F80.0), Cluttering/Stuttering (F80.81), Executive Functioning Deficit (FR41.844)
What does a treatment session look like?
Given that each client is unique, no two sessions look alike. Typically sessions are conducted on a clinic hour, which is 50 minutes and occur 1-2 times weekly. This includes direct therapy and any consultation time with the family/client. However, I strive to do what is best for each client so the session length and frequency are easily adjusted. Depending on the goals, typically the session is broken up into two or three activities. I strive to make each session fun and include movement as allowed!
Do I need a new formal assessment?
This would need to be decided on a case-by-case basis. Factors such as length of time since last speech and language assessment, areas previously assessed, and/or individual or family goals would need to be considered. Typically, I like to review any previous assessments including any psychological (e.g., neuropsych, psychoeducational), speech and language, or occupational therapy evaluations as they often contain valuable information.
